Israel forced displacement: Residents of Sheikh Jarrah fight to keep homes – Al Jazeera

Dec 28, 2021

One neighbourhood in the occupied East Jerusalem has become a major flashpoint in the Israel-Palestinian conflict as this year comes to a close.

Jewish settlers long have claimed the homes of Palestinian families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, putting them at risk of being forcibly displaced through the Israeli courts.

That has led to several Palestinian protests and Israeli police crackdowns which eventually became the trigger for the 11-day day violence between Israel and Gaza in May.

And now, Sheikh Jarrah is likely to be in the spotlight again as the fate of the Palestinian families there hangs in the air.

Al Jazeera’s Harry Fawcett reports from the occupied East Jerusalem.
